Bio
Timmi Hutchings brings a strong background in collegiate rodeo, leadership, and student-athlete development to her role as Rodeo Coach. Originally from Idaho, Timmi moved to Texas to pursue both her education and rodeo career, building a foundation of academic and athletic excellence.
Timmi began her collegiate journey at Odessa College, where she spent three years competing in rodeo while earning an Associate of General Studies. She then transferred to Sul Ross State University, where she continued her rodeo career while earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Business and a Master of Science in Sports Administration.
Throughout her collegiate rodeo career, Timmi competed in barrel racing, goat tying, and breakaway roping, while also occasionally competing in team roping as a header and hazing steers in the steer wrestling. She further expanded her knowledge of the sport by learning to pick up bucking horses, flank bucking horses and bulls, and assist in the roughstock events, giving her a well-rounded understanding of every aspect of collegiate rodeo. In 2020, Timmi qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in goat tying while representing Sul Ross State University.
Following graduation, Timmi relocated to Arizona, where she gained valuable life and professional experience before the opportunity arose to return to Sul Ross State University. After being encouraged by the Dean of Agriculture to apply for the Assistant Rodeo Coach position, she accepted the role and spent the past two years helping develop student-athletes while contributing to the continued success of the rodeo program.
As she begins this exciting new chapter, Timmi is committed to fostering a competitive, disciplined, and supportive environment where student-athletes can excel both in the arena and in the classroom. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes hard work, integrity, accountability, and personal growth while encouraging students to pursue excellence in every aspect of their collegiate experience.
Timmi is excited to join her new program and looks forward to investing in its student-athletes, building meaningful relationships within the community, and continuing a tradition of success both in and out of the arena. Her passion for rodeo, combined with her diverse competitive and coaching experiences, provides student-athletes with valuable mentorship as they strive to achieve their goals inside and outside the arena.
