Snyder, TX — The Western Texas College Westerners baseball team (8-24, 5-9) dropped both games of their doubleheader against No. 2 Midland College (28-3, 13-1) on Saturday, falling 8-0 and 14-7.
Game One
Midland wasted no time getting on the board, scoring two runs in the first inning to take an early lead. The Chaparrals extended their advantage in the fourth, plating five runs on three hits to pull away.
The Westerners were limited offensively, managing just one hit in the contest, which came from Sebastian Llamozas.
Game Two
Western Texas struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the opening inning. Midland responded with three runs to take control and added another in the fifth inning. A three-run sixth inning pushed the Chaparrals' lead to 7-1.
The Westerners answered in the bottom of the sixth, scoring three runs to cut into the deficit. Marcelo Torres started the rally with an RBI double, Sebastian Llamozas followed with an RBI single, and Luke Trager brought in another run to make it 7-4.
In the eighth inning, Western Texas continued to apply pressure but managed just one run while leaving two runners on base.
