Midland, TX — The Western Texas College Westerners (8-26, 5-11) dropped their series against Midland College on Saturday, falling 9-4 in game one and 11-1 in game two.
Game One
Marcelo Torres got the Westerners on the board early with a solo home run in the second inning. However, Midland answered in the bottom of the third, plating four runs to take control.
Tyler Spruiell started on the mound for Western Texas College. The left-hander allowed seven hits and nine runs (eight earned) over 4.2 innings, striking out four and walking four.
Garrett Rester provided a spark offensively, driving in two runs from the No. 8 spot while going 1-for-3. Sebastian Llamozas led the team in hits, finishing 2-for-3 at the plate.
Game Two
Midland broke things open in the fourth inning, scoring six runs on four hits, then added two more in the fifth on a home run.
Jacob Lopez got the start for the Westerners, giving up six hits and six runs (four earned) over 3.1 innings with two strikeouts and three walks..
Rester and Torres each recorded two hits to lead Western Texas College. Caven Fuentes went 1-for-3 and drove in the team's lone run.

The Westerners will travel to Borger, Texas, to take on Frank Phillips College on April 2, with first pitch set for noon.
