Borger, TX – Westerners Baseball (11-27, 8-12) took the series from the Plainsmen of Frank Phillips College this past weekend. The last time the Westerners won a series against the Plainsmen was during the 2022 season (3-1).
Game One
Luke Treager got the Westerners on the board in the top of the second inning with a home run to take a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the third, the Plainsmen responded to go up 4-1.
Western Texas College flipped the game in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 6-4 lead. Frank Phillips answered in the bottom of the fifth, using a combination of singles, an error, and a sacrifice bunt to regain the lead.
Tyler Spruiell started on the mound for Western Texas College, allowing four hits and four runs over three innings while striking out one and walking four. Western Texas College finished with 10 hits in the game.
Game Two
Franco Marquez drove in five runs on three hits to lead Western Texas College to a 22-17 win over Frank Phillips. He hit a three-run home run in the ninth inning, drew a bases-loaded walk in the tenth, and added an RBI single in the eleventh.
Western Texas College collected 21 hits, while Frank Phillips had 14 in a high-scoring game. Marquez's home run in the ninth tied the game at 11.
In the tenth inning, Western Texas College took the lead after Easton Stewart walked, Garrett Rester was hit by a pitch, and Marquez walked, each bringing in a run. Frank Phillips tied the game at 14 in the bottom of the inning with three singles.
The Westerners broke the game open in the top of the eleventh, scoring eight runs on six hits to take a 22-14 lead. The biggest hit was a grand slam by Berndt.
Braden Brown started on the mound for Western Texas College, allowing five hits and eight runs (one earned) over 4.2 innings while striking out four and walking four.
Game Three
Marquez continued his strong performance, driving in five runs on three hits in a 14-4 win. He doubled in the second inning to score two runs and hit a three-run home run in the seventh.
Western Texas College got on the board in the first inning after Marcelo Torres singled to score one run. They added to the lead in the second with RBI hits from Marquez and Dylan Malone.
A five-run seventh inning sealed the win, highlighted by Marquez's home run.
Chomel started on the mound, allowing 10 hits and four runs over five innings, with one strikeout and three walks.
Western Texas College tallied 18 hits in the game. Caven Fuentes led the team, going 4-for-4 at the plate. Garrett Rester, Marcelo Torres, Dylan Malone, and Treager each had multiple hits, while Stewart stole two bases.
Game Four
Marcelo Torres drove in six runs on three hits to lead Western Texas College to another 14-4 victory. He doubled in the third inning to score two, hit a three-run home run in the fourth, and added another RBI double in the seventh.
The Westerners got on the board in the second inning with a sacrifice fly by Marquez. They added four more runs in the third, highlighted by Torres' two-RBI double and a solo home run from Rester.
Torres' three-run homer in the fourth extended the lead. Frank Phillips scored two runs in the fifth on a home run.
Western Texas College added two more runs in the sixth with home runs from Berndt and Rester.
Jacob Lopez started on the mound, giving up six hits and four runs over six innings while striking out six and walking five.

The Westerners will come home on Friday April 10th for a double-header against Odessa College first pitch at noon.
