Westerners Edge Lopes, McCall Scores 500th Career Point
Snyder, TX — Westerners(3-5)grabbed their first home win of the season in dramatic fashion, holding off the Lamar CC Lopes 77–73 at the WTC Classic. Justin McCall delivered the dagger, drilling the go-ahead three with 1:09 left — a shot that not only sealed the win, but also marked his 500th career point.
How We Got There:
The Westerners came out firing, opening the afternoon with an 8–0 run as the offense found rhythm early. Lamar CC fought back, tightening the game late in the first half, but WTC held on to a narrow 35–34 edge in the closing minutes before taking a 46–42 halftime lead.
Second Half:
Both teams traded punches throughout the final 20 minutes in an actual back-and-forth battle. With the game up for grabs in the final moments, McCall rose to the occasion — knocking down the biggest shot of the night to put WTC ahead for good. The defense held strong in the final possessions, securing a hard-fought four-point victory.
