Rodeo Collects Top Points at ENMU Rodeo Short Round
Portales, NM-Western Texas College Rodeo delivered strong performances across multiple events at the ENMU College Rodeo in Portales, NM, on September 20, 2025. The Westerners were represented in bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, and women's barrel racing, highlighted by several top finishes and impressive team depth.
Leading the way, Cooper Tyler topped the saddle bronc riding field for WTC, followed closely by Lincoln Reeder, who had a standout performance in bareback riding. Reeder placed second overall with rides of 78.5 and 78, earning a two-head total of 156.5 and 115 points. Grady Young added a strong showing in bull riding with an 82-point ride, earning 90 points and a podium finish.
In bareback riding, Blayn Hughston contributed with a fifth-place finish, posting rides of 72 and 79 for a combined 151 and earning 60 points.
Koltdyn Heath also added 45 points with scores of 77 and 75.5 for a 152.5 total.
The saddle bronc riding team delivered one of the strongest performances for WTC. Darcy Wockner led the team with rides of 81.5 and 83.5 for a 165 total, earning 60 points. Bryett Larsen finished with a 145.
Samuel Flaherty contributed 30 points with rides of 77.5 and 71.
On the women's side, Savannah Wilson represented WTC in barrel racing, clocking a 17.08 to earn 50 points.
Western Texas College will now turn its attention to the next stop on the fall schedule at the Frank Phillips College Rodeo in Canadian, Texas. The three-day event runs Thursday, September 25, through Saturday, September 27.
