Garden City, Kan. — Men's soccer team headed back on the road Friday night for a non-conference matchup against Garden City Community College, their first meeting with the Broncobusters since 2019. In that last matchup, the Westerners earned a 3-1 home victory in Snyder. The contest ended in a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes.
The result marked the Westerners' first scoreless tie since August 27, 2023, against Jacksonville College, and their second season tie. The last time WTC finished a year with two ties came back in 2017.
Hector Montoya led the team with three attempts, while Philipp Federer added two,
Goalkeeper Brian Garcia earned one save. The Westerners also held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Westerners continue their Kansas swing on Saturday with a Dodge City Community College matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
