Snyder, TX – Western Texas College men's soccer earned a crucial 2–1 road victory over Hill College on Saturday afternoon, keeping their postseason hopes alive while continuing their strong home tradition.
The win improved the Westerners to 4-4-5(1-2)overall and marked the sixth consecutive season the program has recorded three or more home wins.
Western Texas came out sharp from the opening whistle, striking first in the 22nd minute when Myles Taylor buried a shot off a clean assist from Pablo Lobon to give the Westerners the early lead. Hill College equalized in the 64th minute with a goal.
In the 78th minute, Philipp Federer delivered his fifth goal of the season, finishing a setup from Christian Georgi to reclaim the lead and secure the 2–1 victory.
Goalkeeper Brian Garcia docked the defense with a steady performance, recording five saves on six shots faced.
With the victory, the Westerners (4-4-5(1-2) now face a must-win against Ranger College on Tuesday, October 14, at 4:00 p.m. at Weaver Field in Snyder, TX.
