Bio

Charlie Michel is in his fourth year as the Head Coach of the Western Texas College Men’s Soccer program. Since taking the helm, he has consistently led the team to success, earning NJCAA Region V Division Coach of the Year honors every year since 2022.

Michel joined Western Texas College in 2020 as an assistant coach before being promoted to head coach the following year. Under his leadership, the Westerners have made three consecutive appearances in the Region V Championship, securing the regional title in 2022 before falling in overtime in the District Mid-South Final. In both 2023 and 2024, his team battled to the championship game, ultimately falling in penalty kicks.

A lifelong soccer enthusiast, Michel’s dedication to the game has afforded him numerous opportunities, including a three-week trial with Tigres in Mexico, which significantly shaped his playing career. He competed for two years at Richland College, helping his team reach the NJCAA national quarterfinals in his first season and the semifinals in his second. In 2015, he earned an Associate of Arts from Richland College.

Michel continued his collegiate career at Texas A&M International, where he was part of the team’s first-ever national tournament appearance. He later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Accounting from Texas A&M International in 2020.
