Westerners Compete at NJCAA Indoor Championships in Topeka
Topeka, KS — The Western Texas College track and field team traveled to Topeka, Kansas, to compete in the NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Washburn University on Friday and Saturday.
Shevon Depass led the way for the Westerners in the men's 60-meter hurdles, finishing third with a time of 7.83 and earning six team points. Jayden Palacios also delivered one of the top performances of the meet in the men's 600 meters, running a strong 1:18.05.
In the distance events, Cierra Garcia recorded a time of 5:17.56 in the women's mile, while John Alcantar finished the men's mile in 4:16.46.
Alliah Baker turned in a standout sprint performance in the women's 200 meters, finishing fifth with a time of 24.24.
The men's 4x800-meter relay team of Gage Harris, Kyle Trantham, Dan Ortiz, and Donovan Dixon posted a time of 7:42.47, placing ninth.
On the women's side, the 4x400-meter relay team of Daynea Colstock, Alliah Baker, Shagay Sheppy, and Charlize Fraser ran 3:50.00.
