Coach Williams has successfully coached at the NJCAA, NCAA, and USATF levels. He has been named to several coaching and administrative positions both nationally and internationally by USA Track and Field. During his coaching career he has been selected as both coach and manager for two world championship teams, seven USATF national teams, served as president of the NCAA Div. II Track Coaches Association, chaired the men’s sprint development committee for USATF, coached Olympic festival teams, named Assistant Commissioner of the Olympic Festivals, and served as Assistant Competition Manager for the 1996 Olympic Games. Williams has worked with some of the very best athletes in the world of track and field and brings that experience to the teams at WTC.

During the 2024 indoor season, sophomore Desean Boyce joined former greats Omar Johnson and Antwon Smith on the NJCAA All-Time Best list in the 200 meters. Boyce continued to impress by ranking 2nd and joining former westerner greats Sean Bailey, Omar Johnson and Khamal Stewart-Baynes on the NJCAA All Time Best list. The 4 x 400 relay team consisting of Reuel Campbell, Tyrique Johnson, Jahleel Armstrong, and Desean Boyce also reserved a spot on that list.

During the 2023-24 season, James Dadzie recorded a then world leading time of 19.79 in the 200 meters and went on to become the NJCAA outdoor champion as well as a World Championships qualifier in the 200 meters. Dadzie’s 10.04 time in the 100 meters has him ranked 6th all-time in that event. The men’s team also produced a national champion in the 400 meters, as freshman Desean Boyce recorded a World Championships qualifying time of 44.85 in winning the title, a time that had him ranked as one of the world’s top quarter milers.  Also contributing All-American performances for the men’s team during the indoor/outdoor season were (indoors) Dadzie 2nd and Sanjay Salmon 7th in the 60m, Dadzie 7th in the 200m and Boyce 2nd in the 400m.

The women’s team also contributed to the high caliber performances of the 2024 season. Led by 600m national champion Asia Foster, Regional Athlete of the Year Lovina Ewusi and fellow freshman Brieanna Boyce, the lady westerners finished 5th as a team at the indoor national championships.  All-American performances were recorded by Lovina Ewusi 2nd in the 60m hurdles, 4th in the 200m, Grace Obour 2nd in the 400m, Asia Foster 1st in the 600m, Brieanna Boyce 6th in the 60m hurdles, and 2nd in the 4x400 relay that consisted of Lovina Ewusi, Brieanna Boyce, Asia Foster, and Grace Obour.

The outdoor season was also a very successful one, highlighted by the women’s team finishing 6th at the NJCAA Championships. The men were led by a 3rd place finish in the 4x400 relay team of Tyrique Johnson, Reuel Campbell, Jahleel Armstrong, DeSean Boyce, earning All-American titles.

The women’s team was led by the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay teams both winning national titles (4x100, Shackelia Green, Lovina Ewusi, Brieanna Boyce, Grace Obour) (4x400, Shackelia Green, Asia Foster, Brieanna Boyce, Grace Obour). All-American performances were also had by Lovina Ewusi 6th in the 200, 3rd in the 400, Grace Obour 4th in the 400, Asia Foster 6th in the 400, Brieanna Boyce 3rd in the 100h, 8th in the 400 hurdles, Shackelia Green 6th in the 400 hurdles,

Coach Williams has been named Coach of the Year regionally and nationally at the NCAA level and the NJCAA level respectively. His latest recognition is his 2024 selection of Regional Indoor Women’s Coach of the Year.

Coach Williams coached Sean Bailey and Mariya Hudson to NJCAA all-time best all conditions performances in their respective events during their time at Western Texas College, Bailey in the indoor 400 meters and Hudson in the outdoor 200 meters. He now adds James Dadzie to that list in the 100 meters with his wind assisted time of 9.89.  During his tenure at WTC, the men’s and women’s teams have brought home several national champions and numerous All-American awards.
