Hillsboro, TX – The Western Texas College Lady Westerners softball team wrapped up their non-conference matchup with a two-game sweep over Hill College on Saturday, winning 9-0 and 5-3.
Game 1
In the top of the third inning, Western Texas College took an early lead. Briyana Medina drove in the first run of the game with a line-drive single to right field that scored J. Rodriguez, giving the Lady Westerners a 1-0 advantage. Later in the inning, Oliva Marks extended the lead when she tripled to center field, bringing Medina home to make it 2-0.
Western Texas broke the game open in the fourth inning with a six-run rally. The Lady Westerners started the scoring when Ava Ramriez reached on a ground ball that was misplayed by the Hill College pitcher, allowing H. Morales to score and making it 3-0.
Later in the inning, Karissa Juarez drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in I. Ozuna, pushing the lead to 4-0. The big hit came from Medina, who delivered a bases-clearing double to left field, driving in Juarez, J. Rodriguez, and Ramriez to extend the advantage to 7-0.
Medina finished the game with four RBIs on two hits to lead Western Texas to the 9-0 victory.
In the circle, Madison Roberts earned the win for the Lady Westerners. She was dominant, allowing no hits and no runs over five innings, while striking out six and walking three.
Last time a Lady Westerner tossed a no-hitter was on May 5th 2023.
Game 2
Ava Ramriez powered the Lady Westerners to a 5-3 win in game two, driving in all five runs on two hits. Ramriez singled in the third inning to score two runs and later delivered the game-winning three-run double in the seventh inning.
Western Texas struck first in the third when Ramriez's single gave the Lady Westerners a 2-0 lead. Hill College responded in the bottom of the inning with a home run to left field to tie the game at 2-2.
Hill took a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly, but Western Texas answered in the seventh when Ramriez's double drove in three runs to put the Lady Westerners back on top.
Ozuna started in the circle for Western Texas, allowing two runs on three hits over 2.2 innings, with one strikeout and two walks.

Lady Westerners will head home to open up conference action vs Midland College on March 27th at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
