Big Spring, TX – The Western Texas College Lady Westerners softball team (26-22, 9-9) stayed hot at the plate, sweeping the Howard College Hawks with dominant wins of 10-2 and 13-4.
Game One
Western Texas College got on the board first in the second inning when Briyana Medina launched a solo home run to right field—her ninth of the season. The Lady Westerners broke the game open in the fourth inning, erupting for seven runs. Laney Vasquez singled in a run, Janie Rodriguez delivered a three-run double, Ava Ramriez added an RBI single, and Karissa Juarez capped the inning with a two-run single.
Madison Roberts earned the win in the circle, allowing just three hits and two runs over six innings while striking out four and walking one.
Game Two
Howard College struck first in the bottom of the second inning, using a triple down the right field line and a double to center to take a 2-0 lead.
The Lady Westerners responded in a big way in the third inning, plating six runs on seven hits to take control of the game. Janie Rodriguez highlighted the rally with a two-run single.
Western Texas College continued to add on in the fourth, scoring five runs. Madrid drew a bases-loaded walk, a fielder's choice brought in another run, and a costly Howard error allowed two more runs to cross the plate.
Howard added a solo home run in the fifth, but it wasn't enough to slow the Lady Westerners.
Ozuna picked up the win, tossing five innings while giving up five hits and four runs (three earned), with two strikeouts and one walk.

The Lady Westerners return home on April 25 to finish the series against Howard College and celebrate Sophomore Day.
