Big Spring, TX – The Lady Westerners basketball team traveled to Big Spring to compete in the Howard Classic hosted by Howard College, falling 77–70 to Western Oklahoma State College. The Pioneers took control early, building a 23–9 lead after the opening quarter. Western Texas responded in the second, with Shani Johnson carrying the offense and scoring 11 of the team's 22 points to help close the gap before halftime.
After the break, the Lady Westerners delivered their strongest stretch of the night, shooting 12-of-19 from the field and outscoring the Pioneers 28–21 in the third quarter to pull within 66–59. Western Texas continued to fight in the fourth, cutting the deficit to as little as five, but Western Oklahoma State held on late to secure the win.
Jacqueline Cleveland led the Westerners with 17 points off the bench, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc. Johnson followed with 13 points and two assists. Magreth Manawa added 11 points, while Joudi Mansour posted eight points and a team-high eight rebounds. Kendall Carlock anchored the inside with six points and seven boards.
