Carlock’s Double-Double ,Westerners Fall to Leopards
Snyder, TX — The 2025 WTC Classic is underway at the WTC Coliseum from the 20th to the 22nd. The Lady Westerners (0–8) dropped their opening game of the tournament, falling to the Temple Leopards (5–1) by a final score of 60–51.
The Lady Westerners opened the game with their strongest first quarter of the season, taking a 22–14 lead—the first time this year they ended the opening period in front. Western Texas shot 10-for-19 in the quarter, sparked by an 11-point performance from Kendall Carlock. Carlock went on to finish the night with 19 points and 10 rebounds, earning her second double-double of the season, with both coming against Temple College.
The momentum carried into the second quarter as the Westerners took a 31–29 lead into halftime, marking their first halftime lead of the year.
In the fourth quarter, Western Texas briefly held a 42–41 advantage before Temple responded with a decisive run, building a nine-point lead with four minutes remaining and closing out the 60–51 result.
WTC held the Leopards, who average 70 points per game, to just 60, and surpassed their own season scoring average of 49 points. WTC limited Ke'Myreul Wheaton to 10 points, keeping her below her usual 12-point output. Western Texas finished 21–55 from the field for 38.2 percent, their highest shooting percentage of the season, and reached double-digit assists for the third time this year. The game featured one tie and five lead changes.
