Lady Westerners Fall Short in Road Finale at Midland
Midland, TX – The Lady Westerners of Western Texas College (1–28, 1–12) played their final road game of the season Monday night, falling to Midland College (15–13, 4–9) 62–57 in a tightly contested matchup.
How We Got There
Midland closed the opening quarter on a strong run to take a 20–16 lead.
In the second quarter, Western Texas responded behind Kynli Hart's shooting from beyond the arc. Hart knocked down multiple three-pointers to keep the Lady Westerners within striking distance. The game remained tight, but Midland used late layups to take a 35–30 lead into halftime.
The Lady Westerners briefly regained the lead at 45–44 in the third quarter. However, Midland answered with back-to-back three-pointers in the final minute to swing the momentum and carry a 50–45 advantage into the fourth.
Western Texas made one final push in the closing period. Essania Landers scored inside to cut the deficit to one at 52–51 midway through the quarter, but Midland responded by stretching the lead back to multiple possessions to secure the 62–57 win.
