No. 10 Lady Westerners Hold Steady in 4th After Day Two
Weatherford, TX – Day two of the NJCAA Southwest District Championship saw the No. 10 Lady Westerners maintain their position in fourth place heading into the final round.
Wildah Jarestam moved into a tie for 8th place after carding a 76, following her strong opening round of 73. She started her day with a birdie on her first hole and carried that momentum through the front nine, adding three more birdies to go 1-under at the turn. However, she ran into trouble on holes 13–15, the same stretch that challenged her in round one.
Teammate Caitlin Feeney made a strong move up the leaderboard, climbing five spots into a tie for 15th. Feeny shot a 75, going 1-over on the front nine while picking up her first birdie of the tournament on hole four. She added another birdie on hole 16 to cap off her round.
Just behind Feeny is Lupita Barbosa in 17th place. Barbosa opened her round at 1-over but settled in, playing steady golf over the next several holes. She recorded her second birdie of the tournament on hole 11 to get back to even. A challenging stretch on holes 13, 15, and 17 pushed her to a 76 for the day.
Sienna Thumwood delivered one of the highlights of the round, recording her second eagle of the season on the 337-yard par 4, sinking it in two shots on hole 15. She finished with a 76, a significant improvement from her opening-round 82.
Rounding out the lineup is Brooke Ahn, who sits in 23rd place. Ahn opened steadily, playing her first three holes at even par, but faced challenges on both nines. She finished the round at +10.
