Snyder, TX- Magalie De Alba scored her third goal of the season, assisted by Coral Castaneda, and goalkeeper Karmen Coronado tallied five saves as the Lady Westerners battled Cisco College to a 1-1 draw in their conference home opener Tuesday afternoon. Last season, Western Texas College swept both contests from the Wranglers, but this year's matchup saw the teams split the points.
Cisco struck first in the 19th minute when Samara Huerta converted a penalty kick to give the Wranglers a 1-0 lead that held into halftime.
In the 83rd minute, De Alba found the equalizer off Castaneda's setup, leveling the match at 1-1.
The Lady Westerners outshot Cisco 10-6, including a 6-3 edge in the second half, and held a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Up next, the Lady Westerners will hit the road for a conference matchup, traveling to Fort Worth, Texas, to take on Hill College at Gateway Park on Friday, September 19. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. CDT.
