Brenham, TX – Opening their first road trip of 2025, the Lady Westerners traveled to Brenham, Texas, for the Kruse Kickoff Classic at Blinn College.
On Friday, Western Texas faced a tough doubleheader, opening against No. 20 Blinn College and pushing the Buccaneers to four sets. Aubrie Frazier led the offense with 6 kills (.214), while Anayah Sinclair and Savhanna Thompson each added 5.
Setter Sydney Roberts finished with 11 assists, and libero Sofia Salcido kept the Westerners close with 5 service aces.
Later that evening, the Lady Westerners returned to the court against No. 12 Navarro College. Middle-blocker Asli Cam turned in her best weekend performance with 12 kills on a .435 hitting percentage. Sinclair chipped in 7 kills, while Roberts once again guided the offense with 17 assists and 2 aces.
On Saturday, Western Texas matched against No. 4 Weatherford College, Thompson tallied 6 kills and Salcido recorded 11 digs. Frazier added 4 kills, and the team combined for 10 block assists.
The weekend closed against No. 10 Trinity Valley Community College, where Sinclair's efficient 8 kills on a .500 hitting percentage highlighted the attack. Frazier added 5 kills, while Teodora Shukuloska and Salcido each landed service aces.
The Lady Westerners now focus on the NCTC Invitational in Gainesville, Texas, beginning Friday, Sept. 5, with matches against North Central Texas College (10:00 a.m.) and Panola College (4:00 p.m.).
