Women's cross country will see an entirely new cast of freshmen runners. Head Coach James Williams and Assistant Coach Stefan Campos are excited to see the fresh faces for the 2024 campaign.
From Laredo United High School, Genesis Serratos is coming off of a very impressive high school performance. The freshman Westerner was the champion of the 2024 UIL 6A District 30 1600m race. She was also runner up in the 800m competition. In 2023, she was the champion of the 800m, 1600m and 3200m races. Serratos will be a great addition to the 2024 Westerners runners. Stephanie Ruiz is coming from Los Fresnos High School in which she performed in the 2024 UIL 6A District 32 Area qualifier and 2022 Cross Country regional qualifier.
Mia Morris is another anticipated newcomer as she graduated from Alpine High School. She participated in the 2023 Cross Country State qualifier and led her team to a top ten finish in the UIL State Championships. Morris also finished first in the UIL 3A District 4 Cross Country Championships and fourth in the 3A Region 1. With an entire cast of freshman runners for Head Coach Williams, the 2024 season is set to be exciting four months.
