Midland, TX — The Western Texas College Westerners (14–15, 6–9) dropped their final road game of the season Monday night, falling to No. 9 Midland College (25–4, 11–4) 79–71.
How We Got There
Western Texas came out aggressive early, highlighted by a dunk from Viktor Bystrom and a pair of three-pointers from Isak Homelius to build a quick 12–3 advantage.
The Westerners battled throughout the first half and tied the game 35–35 with under a minute remaining. However, the Chaparrals drilled a three-pointer at the buzzer to take a 38–35 lead into halftime.
Midway through the second half, Western Texas trimmed the deficit to seven after back-to-back three-pointers from Homelius. A late triple from Zayier Dean cut the score to 72–64 with just over a minute to play, but Midland closed the game at the free-throw line to secure the 79–71 victory.
