Snyder, TX – The Lady Westerners (7-5, 0-0) opened their home schedule in style, sweeping the Ranger College Lady Rangers (3-13, 0-0) with a 5-4 extra-inning victory in game one and a 4-3 win in game two at United Field.
Game One – Walk-Off Win in Extras
Western Texas jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings. Anely Paz lifted a sacrifice fly, Janie Rodriguez singled to left field, and Ava Ramirez lined a single down the left field line, each driving in a run to give the Lady Westerners early momentum.
Ranger College responded with four runs in the top of the third to take a 4-3 lead. Western Texas battled back and evened the score at 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth after a Ranger error extended the inning and allowed the tying run to score.
In extra innings, the Lady Westerners delivered in walk-off fashion to secure the 5-4 victory.
Ramirez led the way at the plate, going 3-for-5. Rodriguez, Honey Morales, Ramirez, and Paz each recorded an RBI in the win.
Game One Notes:
Western Texas collected five two-strike hits and was aggressive on the bases, stealing four bases in four attempts.
Game Two – Roberts Tosses Complete Game
The Lady Westerners carried the momentum into game two, building a four-run lead in the second inning. Ithalia Ozuna started the rally with a two-run single, Rodriguez added an RBI single, and Ozuna later scored to cap the scoring frame.
Ranger College pushed across three runs, but Madison Roberts was in control in the circle. Roberts tossed her first complete game of the season, allowing seven hits and three runs (none earned) over seven innings while striking out four and issuing no walks.
Western Texas held on for the 4-3 victory to complete the sweep.

Lady Westerner pitchers threw strikes on 77% of their pitches.

The Lady Westerners return to action Saturday, Feb. 21, hosting San Jacinto College-South at United Field in Snyder. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m., followed by game two at 2:30 p.m. CST.
