Snyder, TX – The Lady Westerners (10–6, 0–0) split their Sunday series with Hill College, dropping the opener 2–1 before earning a thrilling 4–3 walk-off victory in game two.
Game One:
Despite a dominant performance in the circle, Western Texas College came up just short in the first game of the day. Madison Roberts struck out a career-high 10 batters over seven innings, allowing just five hits and two runs while walking two.
Her 10-strikeout performance marked the first time a Lady Westerner has reached double digits in strikeouts since Rylee Yarborough did so on March 14, 2024.
Game Two:
The second game came down to the final at-bat as the Lady Westerners secured a 4–3 walk-off win. With the score tied at three in the bottom of the seventh, Briyana Medina lined a single to score the winning run and seal the split.
Ithalia Ozuna matched the strong pitching performance from game one with a career-high 10 strikeouts, allowing five hits and three runs over seven innings without issuing a walk.
Western got on the board in the second inning when Madrid lifted a sacrifice fly to score the game's first run. The Lady Westerners added two more in the third as Janie Rodriguez doubled to center field, pushing the lead to 3–0.
Hill capitalized on a Western error at the top of the seventh to tie the game at three before Medina's heroics in the bottom half ended it.
Rodriguez led the way with two RBIs, finishing 1-for-3 at the plate. Ozuna and Laney Vasquez each collected two hits in the victory.
Western Texas College will now travel to Temple to take on Temple College on Tuesday, February 24, with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
